Recommended albums and 45s of the week – July 19th

Robin McKelle has made a really nice album fusing soul and jazz elements and features Gregory Porter, which is on of the highlights this week., that you won’t want to miss. Kon (of Kon and Amir fame) has a nu-disco/boogie album that should keep your feet moving, available on CD and limited Coloured Double Vinyl, plus UK artist Da Paul has made an interesting soul/jazz album. X factor finalist and shop regular Jahmene Douglas releases his debut album which has Soul and Gospel influences and there are three more albums from the Italian/Japanese jazz label Albore.

Vinyl releases this week include a fabulous 10″ single ‘Los Conquistadores Chocolates’ featuring Johnny Hammond’s original and Quasimode’s excellent version on the other side. Good 45’s from the rock melons and reissue of obscure northern soul by Joanie sommers and early R&b tracks from Joe Simon , Tony clarke and Lloyd Nolan.

Pre-orders are now being taken for the 4 classic Roy Ayers cd’s on Soul Brother records label due in August.

Also we have just had a great Collection of Rare Jazz Original Lp’s arrive, including some really hard to find titles. I will try to send a mailing on some of the titles later today, and more next week. Check the site as this will be updated regularly for additions, which are bound to sell quickly or call in the shop saturday to view them.

Have a great weekend, everybody loves the sunshine!
