New Releases
There are some strong new releases this week. Gedeon Luke may not be someone you are familiar with, but he is about to burst on the scene with his vibrant debut album ‘Live free and Love’ recorded live in the studio with top draw musicians like James Poysner, Bobby Sparks and Karl Denson, a star in the making. Victor Haynes has recorded what is probably his best album to date with ‘My time is here’. Ralf Gum has a good soulful house album and Peter White a strong smooth Jazz set.
Reissues
Strong reissues from Gil Scott Heron, Pretty Purdie and Steve Arrington and several good comps including the really good New Orleans Soul make it good week for CDs
New Vinyl
Vinyl collectors will love the Sam Dees set featuring tracks that were unissued in the 70’s and 80’s, Gregory Porter’s ‘issues of life’ is now on Double Vinyl and one of the all time best Reggae Dub albums ‘Pick a Dub’ gets a welcome reissue.The re-edits of Flowers ‘For Real’ and Ivan Neville ‘Dance your dances away on Pink Vinyl 45 will please Modern Soul fans, and there is a great new 12″ from Sean khan ft Omar.
