Recommended releases of the week – 24th July 2015

New Releases There are some really good albums and 45's this week. Jill Scott makes a triumphant return to form with 'Woman' her best in a few years, combining her unique sound with some old school influenced tracks, check the video on the albums page. The marvellous Diane Shaw album is now available on Vinyl although don't sleep on this as there are only 250 copies pressed, so I expect us to sell out quite quickly. Recommended releases of the week – 17th JUly 2015

New Releases There are some strong new releases this week. Top of the pile is the new Expansion compilation 'Soul Shine' an excellent set of 16 uplifting tracks perfect for your holiday listening, available on Vinyl as well as CD. Tracy Hamlin continues her path of strong independent soul albums with a new set 'No Limits' also released on Expansion. Firstly we have the second album from Lindsey Webster who is filling the void for quality sophisticated soul vacated by Sade many years ago. Her self titled debut was good, but 'You Change' elevates her to another level, check out the clips. Snarky Puppy's keyboard man Shaun Martin has taken seven years to record his debut CD '7 Summers' but it has been worth the wait. Recommended releases of the week : 3rd July 2015

It's a good week for Vinyl releases, with the Cool Million album now in on a limited Double Album set that looks really nice. Darrell Banks Classic 60's soul album 'Is Here' which includes his great 'Open the door to your heart' gets a welcome and lovingly made reissue on 180gm vinyl mastered from the original analogue tapes. Recommended new arrivals: 26th June 2015

Its a strong week for releases with good albums from Charenee Wade (superb jazzy covers of Gil scott heron songs) , a lovely summer Brazilian album from Lucas Arruda, and an excellent deep spiritual jazz set from Greg Foat Group. The Henry Stone Miami Sound is an essential compilation featuring many of the rare funky 45's from his TK empire, Ginger Johnson early afro beat set and Karin Krog compilation are also very good. New Releases Najee returns with what could be his best album for years with You and Me Together featuring Frank McComb amongst others. Foreign Exchange fans will lap up the new Nicolay album City lights vol 3 - Soweto. New releases We have another special release, this week from Rasheed Ali - 1968 Soul Power a superb new album reflecting the music and events of 1968 in Black America. This CD will be exclusively available from Soul Brother Records in the UK for the next two months. Hiatus Kaiyote are an Australian band whose album 'Choose your Weapon' is coming from the same direction as Moonchild, left field Soul but with other influences. New Releases Wow ! what a week for releases with over 30 new albums and singles this week, our music is going through a purple patch at the moment. New albums from Maysa and Opolopo plus a great mixed compilation of soulful house from DJ Spen will keep Soul folk happy. New Releases The long wait is over the Tahirah memory CD Pride is finally available for shipping. if you are not familiar with this album yet, please check it out, it is a superb album co-produced and featuring Jarrod Lawson. Their duet 'All the time' is likely to be one of the tracks of the year. Finish saxophonist Timo Lassy makes another good album with Love Bullet.
