New Releases and Pre-Orders, Friday 3rd March 23

There are some good new releases and reissues this week. Nat Birchall returns with another good spiritual jazz album ‘The Infinite’. There are also new Jazz albums from Christine McBride’s New Jawn and Cecil Alexander. The complete Dionne Warwick Warner brothers albums 1972-77 are collected on a 6cd set, and Raul De Souza’s 3 Capitol albums are collected on a 2CD set.

There are some nice Soul and Funk reissue LPs from Syl Johnson and Funkadelic plus a hip hop classic from De La Soul. Sadar Bahar and Marc Davis have a good soulful gospel house 12″ ‘Ghetto Gospel’, and there are a couple of new retro soul 45’s on Penrose.
We are back in stock of some good 45s, Cds and classic reissue LPs that we haven’t seen for a while including Little Beaver, The Whatnauts and The Topics superb rare 76 album on a Japanese pressing.
We are sad to learn of the passing of Wayne Shorter this week aged 89. One of the eternal greats of jazz who was a central force in three of the 20th Century’s most important jazz groups: Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Miles Davis’ second great quintet in the late 60’s (leading into Davis’ electric period) and the globally revered Weather Report which Shorter co-founded alongside pianist Joe Zawinul in 1970. He leaves an incredible musical legacy, watch out for a feature of his albums in the next few days.
