It is a fantastic week for new releases with 4 albums worthy of being album of the week.

Nicola Conte has produced what is quite possibly his best to date with ‘Let Your Light shine on’ ,an amazing album that gets better on each play, featuring a great cast of musicians incl Theo Croker and Logan Richardson.

Tenderlonious has made what could also be the best album so far on the 22a label a beautiful spiritually influenced album that totally encapsulates the new London Jazz sound.

Robert Glasper teams up with Terrace Martin , Christian Scott and others to create R+R=Now another great new jazz album. Louie Vega returns with the brilliant NYC disco 2 x 2LP sets to set the summer alight. Shirley has a strong retro soul album in the Sharon Jones style. Jorja Smith is Lost & Found a new soul album with a twist from this Walsall native.

Khari Cabral Simmons Bossa Ep is a nice selection of modern Bossa tunes, and ;paula Atherton has a strong smooth jazz album.

There are some great reissues with compilation sets from Love Unlimited , Love Unlimited Orchestra plus superb ressiues including the amazing Norman Connors Love from the Sun on an audiophile pressing,  Nineteenth Hole rare funky jazz, Sabu’s rare latin jazz masterpiece, and good Brazilian albums from Celia Regina Cruz and Azambuja & Cia.  Hugh Masekela 66-76 is also issued a very limited edition 7lp box set.

Richard Searling’s Music and memories from Wigan Casino and Northern Soul anthems are good Northern soul compilations.

Strong 45 reissues from Willie Bobo, Patti Austin, Melba Moore, Nolan Porter,  Freddie Chavez , George Semper and more.
