There are some great new releases and reissues this week. Firstly we are delighted to present the latest 45 on our Soul Brother Records label, the in demand and classic Jazz dance/Mod ‘The Hipster’ by Harold McNair which is almost impossible to find on an original 45 now and still sounds incredibly fresh 55 after its original release. Lonnie Liston Smith returns with his first album in 25 years with the latest in Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad Jazz is Dead series, it’s great to have Lonnie back and in good form. Alfa Mist has a new album ‘Variables’ which has more of a Jazz feel blended with hip hop and New london Jazz rhythms. Chiminyo has an independently produced New London Jazz White label LP. Monday Michiru returns with a nice album ‘Enso’ available on both formats and we have a few signed copies plus we have stock of her previous ‘Naked Breath 2’ all in limited quantities. Atutro O’Farrill has a new album on Blue Note.
There are good reissue LPs from Millie Jackson, a niceShrine comp on Kent and the latest in the Acoustic Sounds series from Wynton Kelly and Wes Montgomery plus Herbie Hancock’s classic ‘Empyrean Isles’ in the Blue Note classic series. We are back in stock of Weldon Irvine ‘Sister’s and Donna McGhee plus a few nice low rider style/latino soul 45s.
