New Releases and pre-orders 18th May 2018

There are loads of great new releases and reissues this week.

Detroit Sax legend Dave McMurray releases his debut for Blue Note a strong funky to straight ahead set with our man sounding really strong.  Mamas Gun release what is probably their best album of funky soul with crossover appeal. Potatohead People have a nice down beat jazzy set with a hip hop influence. There are also new albums from Beady Belle, Me’Shell Ndegecello and an ice Cuban jazz set from Oma Sosa.
Mark IV were a classy male harmony group from the 70’s.  ‘Signs of a Dying Love’ is a great album of previously unreleased songs including many dancers which is a good as if not better than anything they actually issued at the time.  Available on LP this week, CD to follow.
Inner Life were one of the best acts on the Salsoul label and this welcome album ‘Stars of Salsoul’ contains most of their top tracks. Harold Vick wonderful  ‘Don’t Look Back’ is the latest Strata East album to be reissued on Pure Pleasure as an analogue 180gm album.Blink and you will miss Spider Jazz KPM coloured vinyl which is a very ltd issue, there are also 3 new comps from Outta Sight and some other jazz and blues reissues.
There are some good multi album reissues on CD from Shalamar and Ramsey Lewis plus some great value 10 cd sets from Billie, Dinah and Basie vocalists.
There are some really good 12″ singles and 45’s this week. 2000 Black have a good double sider, and there are great reissues from Hubert Laws, Samuel Jonathan Johnson, Phyllis Hyman, Gino Soccio and Universal robot band. 45’s include the rare Larry McGee Revolution, two greatc sides from Margie Joseph and northern cuts from Joannie Sommers, Patti Austin and Darrell Banks.

We are back in stock of what are probably the best two new soul albums of the year so far from Isaiah Sharkey and Tatiana Lady May Mayfield, and Josh Milan 6.9.69 is coming back in early June. Also if you missed it the James Hunter 45 on Daptone is back in and don’t miss his album we still have Cds and a few Coloured Vinyl LPs.

There are many great albums coming next week and in June,  check the pre-order section here.

The much anticipated Joey Negro RSD Remixed With Love 12″ will be here next week. We have a limited amount of copies coming – you can pre-order one now to be sure to get a copy here
