There are some great new releases this week, especially reissues. There is a new album, on Blue Note from veteran drummer Joe Chambers. Kent have put together a superb compilation of Loma Northern soul and revelations featuring many unreleased tracks on Cd and a limited edition 7 x 7″ Box set. There is a high quality vinyl reissue of Gil Scott Heron’s debut album ‘A new Black Poet’ and a new album from Bootsy Collins on Lp from Japan. There are also a few copies of some great Japanese reissues of rare soul albums from Smoke, The Topics, The Ultimates and more. The latest Blue Note Tone Poet album from Donald Byrd and Acoustic Sounds/Verve from Oscar Peterson have also arrived.
Ace have issued three good 45’s on the Deep Soul label. There is a nice pairing of Alpaca Phase 3 and Sam Dees, On City we have Connie Austin’s slower version of ‘Ball Of Fire’ and Kent Houston Outlaws’ modern soul dancer ‘Ain’t No Telling’.
We are back in stock of many great albums that we haven’t seen for a long time, many Blue Note titles, BGP and some great Blue albums plus Freda Payne’s classic.
