New Releases, Friday 14th April

There are an amazing amount of new releases, reissues and back in stock titles this week.

Theo Croker’s brilliant album ‘Afrophysicist’ featuring Dee Dee Bridgewater is finally released on vinyl Harpist Brandee Younger has a new album on Impulse and Erykah Badu ‘New Amerykah part 1 and 2 are reissued on Purple vinyl. There are some great Soul reissues this week Mary Mundy extremely sought after ‘Mother Nature’ ,Spice ‘Let There be Spice’ and Tommie Young plus we are back in stock of some great rare and Japanese reissues from Lemuria, The Ultimates, Smoke Tomorrow’s People, Free love, Kashmere Stage Band and Touch Of Class in limited quantities.
There are some great Jazz reissues including Alice Coltrane classic in the acoustic sounds series and from Blue Note in the Tone Poet series and classic album series plus some good latin jazz from Virgilo Armas, Tito Puente, Fania All Stars and Funky Jazz from Bernard Purdie and David Axelrod and classic blues from John Lee Hooker, mostly analogue pressings. We are back in stock of Camila George, excellent Ibio Ibio on both formats and Dinner Party Dessert LP and there are Cd reissues from Manu Dibango, Ramsey Lewis and The Sweet Inspirations.Also a nice 45 from Marcia Hines.

Next Saturday 22nd April is Record Store Day and we look forward to seeing many of you in the store on this special day. You can see the titles that we are expecting by music genre here. There are still a few more to load next week and we will publish a complete checklist for you to fill in nearer the day. We are open from 8am on the day until 6pm. This year the online sales of RSD products start on Monday 24th April at 8pm. As usual we will have good stocks of the Soul , Jazz Reggae and World titles and reasonable but more limited stocks of the more mainstream titles.
The new 45’s on Soul Brother, Expansion and Outta Sight have been very well received. There are some great titles from Vaneese & Carolyn, Salena Jones, Future Flight, Nancy Wilson ,Charles Earland, Chris Clark/The Temptations all available on regular dinked 45’s and limited edition full centre DJ Copies, plus a Wigan 50th anniversary  3 track EP in a picture cover. The Harold McNair 45 has been delayed due to a mastering issue, it will come out late April/Early May. See details here
There have been some quite large price increases from many labels including Music On Vinyl, Ace and universal group of labels. We still have a large selection of titles available at the old prices whilst stocks last , but restocks will be between £3 to £10 (a few are more than that) more expensive when we reorder, so take your chance to buy these great albums at the old prices whilst they last (some have already been restocked and increased). The new reissues on Soul Brother from FBI LP and Johnny Hammond Gamblers Life’ LP and CDsound great and have been flying out. as has the Webster Lewis Anthology CD and LP compiled by Will Fox and Ralph Tee LP grab your copies now if you haven’t already purchased
The new 45’s on Soul Brother and Expansion have also been very well received. We still have regular dinked and limited edition full centre Dj Copies of the excellent in demand 45s from China Burton and Betty Everett on Soul Brother and classics from Pleasure and The Blackbyrds on Expansion, see the feature here.
